The Christmas Masquerade 2019

Inspired by the Venetian and Italianate influences already present in the interior design, architecture and art collections of Castle Howard, and the Italian theatrical Commedia dell Arte that evolved into British pantomime, this flamboyant installation featured a 70m long “Grand Canal” made of giant blue sequins and a life size bespoke “paper theatre” juxtaposed against the Vanbrugh receding arches in the Great Hall dome and integrated alive Harlequin troupe.
